Other things you can do to help PREPARE:

Even if you cannot be present during the week of June 23-27, you can still help!

Preparations begin now and continue through June 23.

• Shop for craft materials, snack ingredients, picnic supplies, etc. (according to a provided shopping list)

• Cut and/or package craft materials for children to assemble (given all necessary supplies and patterns).

• Gather props for decorations and/or skits (using provided resources as a guide).

• Paint banners, backdrops, sets, etc. (given all necessary supplies and patterns).

• Decorate before VBS begins.

Things we need help with during VBS week:

Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten

(age 3 & toilet-trained, through age 5)

These children are grouped by age into 4 self-contained classrooms.

We need several adults and teen helpers to maintain an appropriate ratio of leaders per children.

A curriculum has been prepared by the Preschool Coordinator

• Please consider volunteering as a helper in one of the pre-school classes.  Indicate which age group you would prefer working with: age 3; age 3-4; age 4; pre-Kindergarten.  Teens and adult helpers needed.  Volunteers remain with the children all morning following a schedule where each volunteer leads a 15-minute portion of the curriculum. 

If you would like to “take the lead” in one or area of another for the pre-school classes, please indicate as much. 

All activities are pre-planned and given to you.  Please select an area of interest:

Together Time

Lead children in music, prayer, finger fun, a

puppet activity, and/or Bible Words according

to provided resources.

Bible Story

            Present Bible story using provided Bible story

visuals.

Game

            Gather supplies and lead children in playing

games as specified by curriculum.

Music Fun / Good Byes

            Lead children in music, puppet time, and

indoor game activities according to provided

resources.

Time is also provided during the morning for teachers and helpers to guide children as a team in these areas:

·         Greeting Time

·         Two Crafts (prepared ahead of time)

·         Snack (provided to the class)

·         Outside free play (on playground)

Please indicate if you are willing to lead a class of children, grouped by grade, through these various stations. 

We need at least two, and preferably three, adult or teen counselors to guide each class through the stations.

            Preschool Traveling Teacher – A ONE (OR MORE) DAY COMMITMENT!

Travel to each of our four preschool classrooms to share something with the children!

We need traveling volunteers to…

                        Sing the assigned song for the closing program and Sunday’s presentation with the children.

            Read a story.

                        Work on the Mission Project.

            Dance.

                 Exercise.
