God, this is a hard time. This is a hard time, a time ripe for prayer…for there is confusion, fear and worry in all of us. Yet, there is also much hope and trust in You. These days, our souls sigh too deep for words. We have had our moments of tears, which were also our intimate prayers to You. And those tears were also gifts from You. We have had our times of laughter as well. So we thank You, that You are a God of laughter, as of tears; a God of sighs as well of words. A God who watches over our doubts and concerns.
We’ve been taught and told that we ought to pray. We know You as a living and comforting God. So, we first thank You for Your love, a love that is there even before we ask, a love that accepts and understands us and our fears. We thank You for being intimately involved in our lives and for the knowledge that we are always cradled in your everlasting arms. As we reflect back on life lived in Your love, we can see that in our weakness, we can always find Your strength…in our fears we can always find your courage…in our cries, there is to be found Your comfort and assurance. And always, in our joy is Your laughter and delight.
God, take us through and beneath the fear and pain, beneath the questions without answers, beneath the fears without names…take us all the way down to the love in us, to Your grace which sustains us. Be with us in our longing and God, stay with us in our needing. Go with us in our doing and rejoice with us in our loving. And we will give You all the glory and thanksgiving. We trust in You and we thank You.

Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith.
- Philippians 3:1 (NLT)
The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
